Your Windows Are Costing You Money Every Month
Your builder-grade vinyl windows are 15 to 20 years old. The seals are broken — you can see the fog between the panes every cold morning. Cold air leaks across the floor in January. The frames are warping from McHenry County’s freeze-thaw cycles, and your heating bills keep climbing. You’ve been meaning to deal with it for three winters now.
There’s a real fix — not another vinyl window that’ll do the same thing in 15 years. The Andersen 100 Series is built from a material that vinyl can’t compete with. And it’s sitting in our Crystal Lake showroom right now.
Why the 100 Series Is What We Recommend for Most McHenry County Homes
I’ve installed thousands of Andersen windows. Here’s why the 100 Series is the one I put in my own house — and the one I recommend first.
Fibrex Composite — Never Paint, Never Rot, Never Replace
Fibrex is Andersen’s proprietary material — 40% reclaimed wood fiber and 60% thermoplastic polymer. Nobody else makes it. It’s twice as strong as vinyl with a finish that’s 12 times thicker than painted vinyl. The color is blended into the material during manufacturing, not painted on. It won’t fade, peel, crack, or rot. Period.
I’ve watched vinyl windows warp and go brittle after McHenry County winters. Fibrex holds its shape from -6°F to 150°F. That matters here.
Lower Energy Bills, Warmer Winters, Quieter Rooms
Fibrex blocks thermal transfer 700 times better than aluminum frames. The 100 Series casement windows hit a U-Factor of 0.27 — well within Illinois energy code. For single-hung and double-hung, the HeatLock upgrade drops the U-Factor to 0.26, and triple-pane options go as low as 0.15. Your heating and cooling systems work less. You feel the difference.
McHenry County sits in Climate Zone 5A. Our winters are no joke. These windows are built for exactly this kind of weather — not a warm-climate window marketed everywhere.
10 Million Installed Since 2008 — This Isn’t Experimental
Some materials sound great on paper but haven’t been tested in the real world. That’s not the case here. Over 10 million Andersen 100 Series windows have been installed in homes across North America since 2008. Andersen has been building windows since 1903 — over 120 years. They’re the largest window manufacturer in North America for a reason.
When a homeowner tells me they’ve “never heard of Fibrex,” I tell them 10 million other homeowners already have it in their houses. The track record speaks for itself.
Custom Sizes in 1/8″ Increments — Built for YOUR House
Most McHenry County homes were built in the ’60s through ’90s. The window openings aren’t standard sizes. That’s a problem if you’re buying off-the-shelf from a big-box store. The 100 Series is custom-manufactured in 1/8-inch increments to fit your exact openings — insert, full-frame, or new construction. No filler strips, no gaps, no compromise.
Our crews love working with the 100 Series because the frames are rigid — they hold their shape during installation better than vinyl, which flexes and needs extra shimming. A better install means better performance for you.

Colors That Last — Because They’re Built In, Not Painted On
The 100 Series comes in 5 exterior colors and 4 interior colors. Every color is blended into the Fibrex material during manufacturing — it’s not a coating that can peel or fade. Pick it once and forget about it.

Why Buy Andersen Through IHC
McHenry County’s Only Andersen Elite Certified Contractor
That certification isn’t a sticker on a truck. It means our crews are trained directly by Andersen, we follow their installation guidelines to the letter, and your project comes with an exclusive 2-year installation warranty that is NOT available through uncertified installers or big-box stores. You can buy an Andersen window at Home Depot — same product. But you can’t buy the installation warranty there.
That installation warranty covers the work itself — separate from Andersen’s 20-year glass and 10-year non-glass product warranty. Both warranties transfer automatically if you ever sell your home. No paperwork, no fee.

You can see the 100 Series at our Crystal Lake showroom. But the real value is us coming to your house — we see the actual condition of your windows, measure every opening, and give you options that fit your home and your goals. That’s something a showroom visit alone can’t do.
Notes From the Field — What We Actually Install
I’ve been installing Andersen in McHenry County since 2005, and the 100 Series has quietly become our most-requested window for one reason: it’s the upgrade from vinyl that doesn’t feel like a compromise. Our most common 100 Series order is double-hung in White or Sandtone with Low-E 4 glass. We’ve installed it on split-levels in Crystal Lake, ranches in Cary, and 1970s colonials all over Huntley. When a homeowner asks me what I’d put in my rental house, this is the answer.
Fibrex composite is a Renewal by Andersen material Andersen brought into the 100 Series in 2010. It’s twice as strong as vinyl, won’t expand or contract with the freeze-thaw cycling, and comes with 5 exterior colors built into the material (not painted on). I’ve yet to see a 100 Series lose color in 16 years of installing them in Zone 5A. Standard glass package for our area is dual-pane Low-E 4 with argon fill — U-Factor around 0.27 — which hits ENERGY STAR for the Northern Zone comfortably.
The 100 Series isn’t for every customer. If the home already has solid wood windows and the owner wants to keep that look, we push to the 400 Series. If it’s a custom build with specialty shapes, we go A-Series or E-Series. But for a straight vinyl-to-premium replacement in a McHenry County home built between 1970 and 2005, the 100 Series is what I recommend first. It’s honest value.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do Andersen 100 Series windows cost?
Every home is different — window count, opening sizes, installation method, glass package, and the condition of your existing frames all affect the final number. That’s exactly why we do free in-home consultations instead of throwing out ballpark numbers that end up being wrong. Call (815) 356-9020 to schedule yours.
What is Fibrex and how is it different from vinyl?
Fibrex is Andersen’s proprietary composite material — 40% reclaimed wood fiber and 60% thermoplastic polymer. It’s twice as strong as vinyl, with a finish 12 times thicker than painted vinyl. The color is blended into the material during manufacturing so it never needs painting, and it won’t fade, crack, peel, or rot. Andersen is the only manufacturer that makes Fibrex — you can’t get it anywhere else.
What warranty comes with the Andersen 100 Series?
The 100 Series comes with Andersen’s 20-year limited warranty on glass and 10-year limited warranty on non-glass components, plus a 10-year exterior finish warranty. Because IHC is an Andersen Elite Certified Contractor, you also get an exclusive 2-year installation warranty that covers the installation work itself. Both warranties are transferable to the next homeowner if you sell your home.
Do Andersen 100 Series windows meet Illinois energy code?
Yes. Casement and picture windows come in at a U-Factor of 0.27–0.28, which comfortably meets Illinois code (which requires 0.30 or better). Single-hung and double-hung are at 0.30 with standard Low-E glass — right at the limit. For those, we recommend the HeatLock upgrade, which drops the U-Factor to 0.26. If you want grilles on single-hung or double-hung windows, HeatLock is required because grilles push the U-Factor to 0.31. Triple-pane options go as low as 0.15.
Can I buy Andersen windows at Home Depot and hire my own installer?
You can buy the same Andersen product at a big-box store. But the 2-year installation warranty is exclusive to Andersen Certified Contractors like IHC — you won’t get it from an uncertified installer. A window is only as good as its installation. If it’s not shimmed right, flashed right, and sealed right, you’ll have air leaks, water infiltration, and warranty coverage that doesn’t apply to the installation. Our crews are trained by Andersen and accountable to both you and to Andersen.
What window styles are available in the 100 Series?
The 100 Series includes single-hung, double-hung, casement, awning, gliding, picture, and specialty shape windows. All styles are available in 5 exterior and 4 interior colors, custom-manufactured in 1/8-inch increments to fit your exact openings. Installation options include insert, full-frame, new construction, and flush fin for stucco applications.
